Maxwell and Saints Bowling Finish Second at ISC and ITC Championship

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Saints bowling squad finished second in the ITC Championship alongside Maxwell's runner-up finish in the ISC Championship over the weekend.

Bowling in their last tournament of the 2022-2023 campaign, the Saints started action on Thursday against 14-seeded Mount Mercy.
 
Coming into this tournament, Maryville held third place from their strong finish at the ITC Qualifiers. The Saints totaled 5,033 pins out of 24 games, rolling two series-high games of 266 pins. The third-seeded Saints pulled out a 4-3 victory over Mount Mercy in their first tournament match.
 
To end Thursday's set of bowling matches, the Saints were set to face six-seeded Lindenwood in a best-of-seven round. The bowling squad took the victory 4-2 against Lindenwood, continuing bracket play to Friday.
 
Coming off a strong Thursday showing, Maryville faced seven-seeded Wichita State in a best-of-seven series on Friday afternoon where the Saints fell 4-1 against the Shockers. The Saints still had one more loss to give as they faced Louisiana Tech with hopes for a championship title. The bowling squad won the series 4.5-2.5 where they were set to have a rematch against the Shockers on Friday night. In two, best-of-seven-series sets, Maryville took both matches 4-3 to meet McKendree in the ITC Championships on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Saints finished runners-up in this tournament placing second place. Be sure to tune in to CBS Sports Network to catch the Maryville vs. McKendree matchup on May 9 at 6 p.m. (CT).

Anna Maxwell also competed in the ISC Championship over the weekend where she scored second place.

After coming off a great season and strong ISC Qualifier performance, Maxwell held the fourteenth seed out of 24 bowlers. Maxwell tallied 1,206 total pins at qualifiers with a high game of 221 in a six-game series.
 
On Thursday afternoon, Maxwell was set to face nineteenth-seed Allyson Sand from Louisiana Tech. In a great matchup, Maxwell took the series win 638-606. The sophomore bowler out of Westland, Mich., was set to face three-seed Mabel Cummins in round two, early Wednesday morning.
 
Maxwell gained another victory with a 659-639 series win over the Vanderbilt bowler. Maxwell continued her solo tournament run against six-seeded Rebecca Hagerman in a quarterfinal matchup. Maxwell earned another victory by edging out the McKendree bowler with a 645-634 performance.
 
Competing in a Saturday, semifinals match, Maxwell took Chloe Skurzynski out of Stephen F. Austin. With goals of making it to the ISC Finals, Maxwell rolled another great performance, knocking out the seven-seed to advance to the finals.
 
The sophomore was set to face eight-seeded Paige Wagner for the Championship title. In a close finish, Maxwell fell to Wagner 211-203.
