Maryville’s NCAA Tournament Run Ends in Loss to Youngstown State

LANSING, Mich. – Maryville University women's bowling wrapped up NCAA Regionals play with a 1-2 loss to Youngstown State University on Saturday. The Saints end their first trip to the NCAA Tournament with a 1-2 record, including a win over Carthage College on Friday.
 
After opening the bracket against Youngstown State, Maryville opened Saturday against them as well. YSU edged out the Saints 1,052-909 despite an impressive 212 from Laura Bartelt.
 
Lauren Pate's squad responded well in the baker game, grinding out an incredibly close 1,040-1039 victory to send it to the baker system match play. The Saints went ahead 2-1 in the best-of-seven series before YSU rattled off a pair of games at 215. Maryville posted a 236 to tie it at 3-3, but Youngstown State took the seventh game by six pins to earn the win.
 
The bowling team will wrap up the 2022-23 campaign with a trip to Las Vegas, Nev., for the ITC Championships from Thursday, April 20 to Saturday, April 22. Anna Maxwell will additionally be competing in the ISC Championships after qualifying individually on March 10.
