INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced five Maryville University softball student-athletes to the All-Conference teams on Wednesday night including two on the first team. The Saints finished fourth in the GLVC and posted the most wins (27) in the regular season since 2019.
 
Taylor Shingler receives the third all-conference selection of her career and her second on the All-GLVC First Team. The fifth-year senior finished tied for third in the conference with 25 stolen bases, fourth in average at .383, fourth with five triples, and fourth in on-base percentage at .452. She additionally scored 32 runs and drove in 16 RBI.
 
Joining Shingler on the first team for the first time in her career is Kylie Swinney. Swinney was an instrumental piece in the middle of the Saints' lineup, leading the team with 49 hits while tying for the team lead with 28 RBI and five triples. Her average was a career-best .377 as were her stolen bases (11), on-base percentage (.401), and runs scored (17).
 
In her first season at Maryville, Chayse Ramey was selected to the All-GLVC Third Team for her impressive season in the circle. The Decatur, Ill., native posted a 3.72 ERA with nine wins, four complete games, and a team-best 78 strikeouts. She has also pitched well as of late, allowing a total of four earned runs over her last four starts for a 1.95 ERA (14.2 innings).
 
Sophomore Emily Corona also receives her first All-GLVC selection to the third team. She ranks sixth in the GLVC in runs scored (39) and stolen bases (20) while also placing tied for third in triples with five. The middle infielder also led the team in doubles (11), total bases (69), slugging (.523), and RBI (28).
 
The final All-GLVC Third Team selection was Emersen Heron. Heron finished fifth in the GLVC with 13 wins, sixth with 13 complete games, and sixth with a pair of saves. She had a team-low 2.83 ERA, a team-high 131.0 innings pitched, and three shutouts. At the plate, she was second on the team with two home runs, second with 10 doubles, and third with 22 RBI. The two-way star earns the first All-GLVC selection of her career.
 
The conference also selected Carly Nolde as Maryville's GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship honoree. The student-athletes chosen for this award are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. They also must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. Nolde is now eligible to become one of their school's two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners.
 
Maryville softball begins its GLVC Tournament run with a first-round matchup with the University of Illinois Springfield on Thursday, May 4. The first pitch at the Eastside Centre in East Peoria, Ill., is set for 10 a.m.
