Yurevich Makes Five Saves, Saints Fall to Drury 1-0

ST. LOUIS – Maryville women's soccer lost 1-0 to the Drury University Panthers on Friday afternoon. The Saints lose their first game in the Great Lakes Valley Conference despite five saves from sophomore goalkeeper Gigi Yurevich.

Run of Play:

Drury got the first shot on goal of the game in the 12^th minute when Elsa Gonzalez tested Maryville keeper Gigi Yurevich with a shot to the bottom-left side of the net.
The Panthers had the better chances in the first half, logging three more shots on goal than the Saints, but were held scoreless through 45 minutes.
Yurevich made her fourth save at 51:21 in the second half on Elena Perez.
Drury got the first goal of the game off a corner kick when Elena Perez found Andrea Camargo for a header at 59:53.
Elsa Nilson-Hurtig had several good chances in the second half ringing a shot off the crossbar in the 58^th minute and was denied a goal by the keeper Kaitlin Knetzke at 83:22.
Knetzke wrapped up a 1-0 Drury win and her fifth consecutive shutout.

Notes:

This is the second time in Yurevich's career with five or more saves, with the last coming at Ferris State in the 2023 season opener on Aug. 31.
