ST. LOUIS – Goals from
Ulrika Bredin,
Lexi Gentry, and
Halle Ezell pushed women's soccer to a 3-0 win over Southwest Baptist University on Sunday afternoon. Maryville improved to 5-2-1 overall with a 3-1 record in the conference.
Run of Play:
- Ulrika Bredin and Ashlyne Hunt put shots on goal in the first two minutes to start the game.
- Bredin continued to apply pressure, sending a shot off the crossbar at 6:15.
- Elsa Nilson-Hurtig was denied by SBU keeper Ashlynn Edison in the 15th minute on a low shot.
- At 25:53, Bredin logged the first goal of the game after sending a shot into high-left portion of the goal after taking a pass from Lexi Gentry.
- In total, the Saints took 11 shots in the first half while forcing Edison to make five saves.
- Hunt took a shot on goal in the 51st minute, picked up the rebound, and sent a pass through Elsa Nilson-Hurtig to Gentry for Maryville's second goal of the game
- Nine minutes later, Tori Calvert and Gentry found Halle Ezell for her second goal of the season to widen the lead to 3-0.
- Nika Vemdal, Lucy McCabe, and Maddie Dickerman all had good looks on shots to make it 4-0, but Edison was up to the task to keep the lead from growing any worse.
