ST. LOUIS –
Lauren Dickhut's first career hat trick helped Maryville women's soccer to a 7-0 over William Jewell College on Friday night. The sophomore tallied the Saints' first hat trick since Amanda Wiechans scored three against Oakland City in 2015.
Run of Play:
- Elsa Nilson-Hurtig got the offense going in a hurry with a goal at 3:16 off an assist from team point leader Lexi Gentry.
- The Cardinals tried to tie the game three minutes later but they were denied by starting Saints keeper Gigi Yurevich, her first of two saves.
- Maryville continued to pepper WJC starting goalie Emily Glassman, forcing her to make her first save at 23:57.
- Two minutes later, Nika Vemdal buried her third goal of the campaign at 25:05.
- In the 34th minute, Maddie Dickerman received a pass from Molly Krispin just past the middle of the field and fired the ball into the top-right corner of the goal to make it 3-0.
- The scoring continued well into the second half, with Sara Lawler finding the back of the net in the 57th minute for her second of the season.
- Lauren Dickhut rounded out the goal parade with three consecutive goals in the 79th, 85th, and 90th minutes of the game to complete her first career hat trick.
