ST. LOUIS –
Lexi Gentry sent Maryville women's soccer to a 1-0 win over No. 18 Cedarville University with a late goal on Thursday evening. The Saints and Yellow Jackets were knotted up through the first 85 minutes of the game before the senior shot one through a crowded goalie box and into the net at 85:40.
Run of Play:
- After two shot attempts by Maryville in the first 20 minutes, Cedarville put a shot on goal but was rejected by sophomore goalkeeper Gigi Yurevich.
- The Saints maintained a majority of the possession through the first half, taking seven shot attempts to the opposition's two.
- Yurevich's save on Gracie Groome at 36:45 would seal a first-half draw at 0-0.
- Ulrika Bredin started the second half by forcing Yellow Jackets keeper Brooke Ackley to make a stop near the bottom of the goal.
- Moments later, Ashlyne Hunt fired a shot wide left at 52:17 before getting denied by Ackley at 54:50.
- Hunt was denied on another low shot on goal at 77:41.
- In the 86th minute, Gentry took a pass from Bredin and sent a bouncing shot through a packed goalie box into the left side of the goal to give Maryville a 1-0 advantage.
- The Saints' defense stifled the Yellow Jackets attack for the entirety of the second half, allowing one total shot attempt to seal up a 1-0 victory.

- The Saints are now 5-2-1 in their last eight games against opponents ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25.
- This is Maryville's first ranked win since the 2022 GLVC Semifinal when they beat No. 17 McKendree University on Nov. 11.
- Lexi Gentry picked up the seventh game-winning goal of her career, tied for fourth in program history.
- With an assist on the game-winner, defenseman Ulrika Bredin registered the second assist and point of her career.
