KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the second week in a row, Maryville women's soccer is in the United Soccer Coaches' Top 25, arriving at No. 13. This ranking makes program history with the highest-ranking in for the NCAA Division II Era of Maryville Saints Soccer.
The Saints have kept their undefeated streak alive all the way into October, sitting at 8-0-1 this season, having not trailed in a single contest this season. The Saints have completed 810 minutes of game action thus far this season, and have led in 508 minutes of that time, while shutting out six out their nine opponents.
After getting upset by Missouri S&T, McKendree dropped out of the poll with surging Drury replacing them with the Saints' only non-victory coming at the hands of the, now, No. 21-ranked Panthers.
The Saints offense, led by a firepower duo of
Elsa Nilson-Hurtig and
Ashlyne Hunt, sits at No. 3 in the country in scoring offense, scoring 3.56 goals per game. Individually, Nilson-Hurtig sits third in points per game in the nation with 2.56 per contest.
On the defensive side, the Saints sit tied for 18th in goals-against average with
Agnes Vilen sitting at No. 24 in saves percentage while being tied for fourth in shutouts, being the only freshman in the top ten.
The Saints sit atop the GLVC with a seven-game winning streak. They face a big test this Friday as their lone bout being against formerly-ranked McKendree on Friday at 5 p.m.
