HOUSTON, Texas. –The Maryville women's bowling team kicked off their season with three days of competition in the Lone Star State at the Track Kat Klash, finishing the weekend with a 6-7 record. The Saints began strong with four wins in the Baker format on day one, but struggled in the traditional matches, losing three of five on Saturday and all three contests on the final day.
Newcomer
Siyah Sweeny led the Saints with a standout performance, finishing seventh among 133 bowlers and averaging 200.8 in traditional games. Close behind was reigning DII Player of the Year
Anna Maxwell, who placed 16th with a 194.2 average.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints opened Friday's Baker action by defeating Texas Southern, Jackson State, Southern University, and Prairie View A&M, dropping only their match against Arkansas State by 36 pins.
Saturday saw the Saints start 2-1, including wins over Central Missouri and Louisiana Tech, before losses to Sam Houston and Stephen F. Austin closed out the day.
Entering the final day in sixth place, Maryville fell to Maryland Eastern Shore in just four games, setting the tone for a tough day that ended with two more losses, leaving the Saints in eighth place overall.

The Saints will trade the heat of Texas for the cold of Wisconsin as they travel north to face off against the LadyJack Classic in Kenosha, Wis., hosted by Stephen F. Austin on Nov. 8-10.
