ST. LOUIS –
Lindsey Schadewalt drilled all five of her 3-point field goal attempts in the second half to lead the Maryville women's basketball team in a 79-58 romp over Illinois Springfield. The freshman finished with 19 points, while
Gracie Stugart added 11 points and seven assists.
Claire Rake contributed 10 points, while
Alicia Burgos and
Faith Hawthorne tied for the team lead with six rebounds apiece.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Up 11-10 in the first, the Saints scored eight straight points to surge ahead.
Olivia Hahn splashed in a 3-pointer, and
Claire Rake did the same on the next possession. Two free throws by Stugart pushed the Saints ahead 19-10. Maryville led 21-16 and scored 11 of 13 points to open the second quarter.
Annika Pluemer started the run with a layup, and Stugart and Schadewalt scored inside. After another Pluemer layup,
Adylan Ayer found the range from deep for a 32-18 advantage. The Saints grabbed a 37-24 lead at intermission.

Maryville's advantage held at 50-33 before Schadewalt took over from deep. She drilled back-to-back 3-pointers to end the third, and another to open the fourth quarter for a 59-37 margin.
Madyson Rigdon's three-point play built the largest lead of the day at 62-37 early in the fourth. The margin never dipped below 17 points as the Saints picked up their first league win of the season. Maryville shot 69.2 percent in the fourth quarter to pull away.
