NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Maryville University baseball lost 4-3 in the series opener at Trevecca Nazarene University on Thursday night. The Saints tied the game in the top of the seventh inning, but a two-run bottom half from the Trojans propelled them to a game-one win.

After a scoreless first inning from starter
Ben Prywitch, the Trevecca struck for a pair of runs in the second on Abbott Lawrence's two-run home run. The Saints responded in the top of the third when
Matt Arnold made it to third base on an error and came in to score on
Andy Bunton's ground out.

Prywitch cruised through the next two innings and ended his day with 63 pitches, two earned runs, and six strikeouts over four innings of work.
Braden Smith came out of the bullpen in the fifth and worked a pair of scoreless innings to keep the game 2-1.

Maryville tied the game on Elias Steven's sacrifice fly to score Arnold in the top of the seventh, but the Trojans struck back quickly in the bottom half. With two outs and runners on first and second, Cole McCallum drove in a run with a single through the left side of the infield. A wild pitch brought in the fourth run for Trevecca.

Down to their final three outs,
Andy Bunton and
Jack Zebig both singled to open up the top of the ninth. TNU got a foul out before walking Stevens and surrendering a sacrifice fly to
Jacob Hager. With the tying run in scoring position, the Trojans worked a strikeout to end the game with a 4-3 final.
