NASHVILLE, Tenn. –
Jacob Hager's go-ahead home run in the top of the ninth gave Maryville University an 8-6 win over Trevecca Nazarene University on Friday afternoon. The Saints improve their record to 2-2 to begin the 2024 campaign and even up the series with the Trojans at 1-1. Â

Camden Ruby put the Saints ahead in the top of the second with an RBI single to bring in
Michael Long.
Andy Bunton followed up in the next at-bat and plated two more with a single to right-center.

Jacob Kroeger pitched through three scoreless on the mound but found trouble in the bottom of the fourth. Trevecca tallied five runs on five hits to jump ahead 5-2.

In the top of the sixth, Long walked and stole second before a two-run home run from
Colin Bergmann. The game-tying shot was the graduate transfer's first with Maryville and his fourth RBI in four games this season.

Again, the Trojans responded with a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the sixth, but
Michael Gould tied the game again in the top of the seventh with a solo bomb of his own.

Still tied at six in the top of the ninth, Gould was hit by a pitch to put the go-ahead run on base. The Trojans got the second out of the inning before surrendering a two-run home run to
Jacob Hager to put Maryville up 8-6.

Noah Arras was called on for the save in the bottom of the ninth and retired the side in order to pick up his second save of the season.
