Pat Evers set the Maryville baseball program records for wins as a head coach with his 126th against Northwood University on Saturday. Tied 4-4 in the bottom of the eighth,
Elias Stevens and
Michael Long hit back-to-back home runs to give the Saints a 6-4 win over the Timberwolves.Â

Ben Gregory began his first start at home during the 2024 campaign with four scoreless innings. Northwood scored a trio of unearned runs in the fifth, but the Saints got one back on an RBI double from
Michael Gould in the sixth.Â

Northwood got one more run in the top of the seventh, knocking Gregory out of the game after 102 pitches. In total, the sophomore from Granger, Ind., went 6.1 innings with nine strikeouts, five hits, and the lone earned run.Â

Ryan Hoshaw entered the game in relief and got a double play to end the inning to hold the game at 4-1 Timberwolves. In the bottom half,
Michael Long hit a single in front of
Jacob Hager who blasted a two-run home run into right-center to knot the game at four.Â

Hoshaw kept Northwood quiet in the eighth and got consecutive home runs from
Elias Stevens and
Michael Long in the home half to put him in line for a win. A 1-2-3 ninth gave the Saints a series win over the Timberwolves with a 6-4 final.Â
