ST. LOUIS – Solo home runs from
Jacob Hager and
Dominic Sharp in the eighth inning sent Maryville University to a 5-3 win over Quincy University on Friday afternoon. After a pitcher's duel early in the game, the Saints were given a late lead before
Noah Harbin slammed the door with his first save of the season in the ninth.

Jacob Kroeger and Griffin Kirn matched each other pitch-for-pitch through the first four innings of the game, holding each other's lineups to just one hit each. Both pitchers had four strikeouts through the first four frames.

In the bottom of the fifth,
Josh Herget worked a walk with two outs and advanced to second on
Dominic Sharp's single into center.
Andy Bunton then stepped in a roped an RBI single to make it 1-0 Maryville. Another walk to
Jack Zebig brought up
Michael Gould who singled in two more runs to extend the lead to three.

In the top of the sixth, Kroeger hit some trouble after allowing a single and a walk with one out. Dustin Dupont came in and ripped a three-run home run into the trees in right field to knot the game at three.

In the top of the eighth,
Ryan Hoshaw relieved Kroeger and worked out of a bases-loaded jam to keep the game tied. In the bottom half,
Jacob Hager hit a solo home run to right field with one out to put the Saints ahead 4-3. Sharp followed up with a solo home run with two outs to add an insurance run.

The Hawks put two runners on with one out in the top of the ninth, forcing
Pat Evers to call on
Noah Harbin for a save opportunity. The redshirt freshman out of Quincy Notre Dame High School got a strikeout and a groundout to pick up his first save and a 5-3 Maryville win.
