Quincy Recap
After a go-ahead three-run home run in Saturday's second game,
Michael Gould stepped in with one out in the first of Sunday's contest and hit his second consecutive home run to put Maryville up 1-0. Quincy responded in the top of the third with RBI groundouts from Austin Simpson and JD Ortiz to take a 2-1 lead.
Â
Josh Herget doubled to lead off the bottom of the fourth, advanced to third on
Jacob Hager's single and scored on a double play groundball to tie the game. Another RBI groundout from JD Ortiz in the fifth put Quincy ahead once again at 3-2.Â
Â
In the bottom half of the fifth,
Elias Stevens got a pitch to hit and clubbed his second home run of the series to knot the game back up a three.
Â
Both bullpens held things steady until the bottom of the seventh. Gould walked and stole second to lead off the frame. One batter later, Gould stole third and scored the go-ahead run on a throwing error by the catcher. Later in the inning, Maryville had
Michael Long score on a wild pitch before Hager picked up three RBI with a no-doubt home run to right-center.
Â
Refusing to quit, the Hawks posted four runs on four hits in the top of the eighth. David Broughton doubled to center, Dustin Dupont drove in a run with a single, and Austin Simpson hit his third home run of the series to pull Quincy within one. Cole Erickson singled through the right side with one out as the tying run, but
Ryan Hoshaw worked a groundout to escape with the lead.
Â
Maryville went 1-2-3 in the eighth and called on
Noah Harbin for his second save opportunity of the series. He surrendered a leadoff double but got the runner at third base for the first out, a strikeout, and an infield pop-out to save an 8-7 Saints win.Â

Harbin finished the weekend with 2.2 innings, two hits allowed, five strikeouts, and two saves.
