ST. LOUIS – Maryville University baseball posted 14 runs on the University of Missouri-St. Louis to open a four-game series on Friday afternoon.
Jacob Kroeger threw 5.0 innings with eight strikeouts and was backed by three RBI performances from
Elias Stevens and
Dominic Sharp.

Maryville got up 1-0 in the bottom of the first on a
Michael Gould sacrifice fly. UMSL tied it up in the top of the second, but the Saints responded with three runs on four hits including an RBI knocks from
Colin Bergmann and
Dominic Sharp.

Starting pitcher
Jacob Kroeger worked around a two-out single in the third before
Jacob Hager's two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning to put the Saints ahead 6-1.

The Tritons got an RBI double from Barrett Rose in the fifth and put runners at first and third with two outs. Kroeger got a groundout to end the frame and his day with 5.0 innings and eight strikeouts with two earned runs and seven hits.

In the bottom of the fifth,
Andy Bunton worked a bases-loaded walk to put the Saints up 7-2.
Jack Zebig followed with an RBI single ahead of Sharp's sacrifice fly to put Maryville bring the lead to seven runs.

Sharp picked up another RBI in the seventh on an single, Gould drove in the 11
th run, and
Elias Stevens clubbed a three-run home run to end the contest early at 14-4.

The mercy-rule victory improved Kroeger's record to 4-0 in 2024.
Philip Reinhardt pitched well out of the bullpen, working out of a jam in the sixth with a trio of strikeouts and ending his day with a pair of scoreless innings with five punch outs.
