ST. LOUIS – Maryville University baseball took both games of a conference doubleheader over the University of Missouri-St. Louis on Friday. The Saints secured a series win with their third consecutive win over the Tritons and will look to finish off the sweep on Saturday.

Game One Recap
Jack Zebig led off game one with a towering solo home run in the bottom of the first.
Dominic Sharp,
Michael Gould, and
Elias Stevens got on base for
Michael Long who drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.
Jacob Hager singled in a run in the next at-bat to extend the lead to 3-0.

UMSL got a pair of runs in the top of the second, but Gould continued to help Maryville pull away with an RBI double in the bottom half that scored Zebig.

Still 4-2 in the fourth, Maryville loaded the bases for Long once again and singled home a pair for the sixth run. The Tritons made a call to the bullpen and Hager welcomed him to the mound with a three-run bomb to left center to put the Saints up by seven.

The visitors tried to put a comeback bid together, getting a three-run shot in the fifth and four runs in the sixth, but three more RBI from Hager helped ensure an eventual 13-9 win for his club.

Ben Gregory picked up the win in the game with three earned runs and four strikeouts over five innings.
Noah Harbin slammed the door in the sixth and seventh with two strikeouts.

Game Two Recap
Zebig doubled to lead off the bottom of the first in game two and came home to score when Gould bunted the ball back to the pitcher forcing a throwing error. Mitchell Green knotted the game at 1-1 in the second with a solo home run.

UMSL to a 2-1 lead when a run scored on a wild pitch, but the Saints quickly answered.
Andy Bunton, Zebig, and Gould all singled with no outs in the third and Stevens drove them all home with a no-doubt grand slam to left-center.

The Maryville bullpen took it from there, getting 2.1 scoreless from
Geo Camfield, and a two-inning save out of
Ryan Hoshaw to lock up a 5-2 win and a series victory.
