Illinois Springfield recap
The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair with UIS getting their lead up to three points on two occasions. Trailing 20-18 with 40 seconds remaining, Antoinette Mussorici found Annika Pluemer for a three that gave the Saints the lead. However, a UIS jumper from Allysia McDaniel with four seconds left put them back behind at 22-21 to end the first.

The lead continued to change hands until a Haidyn Pitsch three-pointer, one of her five makes from deep, put Maryville up and got them on a run. Hawthorne found the net on the next possession, followed by another three from Pitsch and a pair of jumpers from Carsyn Fearday to make it 47-40. Two more free throws and a three from Pleumer had the Saints heading into the locker room up 52-44 at halftime.

Mussorici started the second half with a deep ball off an assist from Gracie Stugart. UIS clawed their way back to within two with 6:18 in the third before Hawthorne and Stugart combined for five buckets over the next four minutes to put the Saints up 10 points.

Leading 75-61 at the start of the fourth quarter, Maryville watched their lead slowly trickle down to three points with 34 seconds left. Mussorici was fouled with 31 seconds and made a pair of free throws for breathing room. Hawthorne stepped to the line three seconds later and put her team up 90-85. The Saints went on to make 10 of their last 12 from the charity stripe with under a minute to put UIS away with a 95-85 final.
