ST. LOUIS – Maryville University baseball posted 14 runs to take the series opener over Rockhurst University on Friday afternoon. Four different Saints drove in a pair of runs and
Noah Harbin earned a four-out save to pick up a 14-7 win over the Hawks.

Jacob Kroeger danced out of danger in the first inning after allowing the first two runners of the game to reach. The Hawks put a run on the board in the second after a bases-loaded walk with one out plated the runner at third. Kroeger then came back with a pair of strikeouts to strand three runners.

Elias Stevens singled to lead off the bottom of the second and eventually came around to score on a Rockhurst balk. In the third, they took the lead on an RBI groundout from
Dominic Sharp with runners at first and third.

Still trailing 2-1 in the fifth, the visitors used a walk and a single to put runners on base for Drew Cornelison who drilled a ball off of the shed in left-center for a three-run home run. In the bottom half,
Michael Gould singled home a run and then scored later on a wild pitch to tie the game at four.

Philip Reinhardt worked a scoreless sixth inning for the Saints out of the bullpen, working around a two-out base hit, and got run support in the bottom of the sixth.
Camden Ruby reached base and advanced to third after a single by
Matt Arnold and a groundout.
Jack Zebig stepped in with two runners in scoring position and singled up the middle to put Maryville ahead 6-4.

A lead-off home run in the bottom of the seventh from Gould swung the door wide open for the Saints. Stevens followed up with a single and a stolen base,
Jacob Hager walked,
Matt Schuler walked, and Ruby pushed home a run with a hit-by-pitch. A groundball double play pushed home another run before
Andy Bunton scored on a wild pitch for the 10
th run.

Rockhurst continued to grind away at the lead with a solo home run in the eighth and a two-RBI single from Andrew Loeffelman pulled them within three. The big lead was restored in the bottom half on RBI singles from Hager and Ruby and an RBI double down the left-field line from Arnold.

After getting the final out of the eighth,
Noah Harbin finished off the four-out save in the ninth to wrap up a 14-7 final.
