INDIANAPOLIS – Maryville baseball dropped both games of a Saturday doubleheader on the road against the University of Indianapolis. They fell to 27-13 overall and 20-7 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Game One Recap
The Saints got off to a fast start in the top of the first inning of game one by plating three runs on three this.
Michael Gould got on base, stole second, and scored on a
Matt Schuler single.
Elias Stevens scored in the next at-bat on an RBI single from
Colin Bergmann, and Gavin Schacher drove in the third run with a fielder's choice.

Jack Zebig singled up the middle to plate another run in the second before UIndy responded with three runs on two hits and two errors in the bottom half. They tied it up in the third inning on a run-scoring sacrifice bunt and took a 9-5 lead in the fourth on RBI from Drew Donaldson, Cole Hampton, and Caleb Vaughn.

The contest held steady at 9-5 until the top of the last inning. A leadoff walk to
Andy Bunton and a one-out single to
Michael Gould forced a Greyhound call to the bullpen. E.J. White came in and surrendered a two-RBI single to Bergmann, but still earned his ninth save of the season after getting a 4-6 fielder's choice to end the game with a 9-7 final. Â

Game Two Recap
The Saints struck first again in game two, this time on an RBI single to center field from freshman
Gavyn Schacher. They tacked on three more in the third on a run-scoring double from
Elias Stevens and a two-run home run from Bergmann.

Trailing 4-0 heading into the bottom of the third, Easton Good reached on an error to lead off the inning, advanced to third on a passed ball, and scored on a groundout. The UIndy offense exploded in the fourth for four runs on five hits to take a 5-4 lead.

A two-run bomb from Schuler, his ninth of the season and second of the series, restored the Maryville lead in the top of the fifth. The Greyhounds retaliated in the bottom half on a bunt that plated a run after the Saints loaded the bases with no outs.
Drake Downing worked out of the jam without any more damage done, however.

Tied 6-6 in the bottom of the sixth, Bryce Goodwine doubled to lead off the sixth and scored on Good's single up the middle. White was called upon again to earn a save in the top of the seventh and faced the minimum to seal up his 10
th save of the year and a 7-6 win for his club.
