SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Maryville University baseball finished off a 3-1 road series win at Drury University on Sunday with an 8-4 win. They move into second place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference standings at 23-9 in league play.

Both offenses were held scoreless in the top of the first but Maryville jumped ahead in the second.
Michael Gould stepped in with the bases loaded and one out and brought in a run with a sacrifice fly. Two batters later with the bases loaded again, the Panther starting pitcher balked in a run.
Matt Schuler followed up with a two-RBI single to make the lead 4-0.

In the top of the fourth,
Andy Bunton collected one of his three hits on Sunday to lead off the frame and advanced to third on a
Jack Zebig double to center. Gould then dug in and plated a run with a single. Corbin Bassham was called in to pitch for Drury with runners on and ended the threat with three consecutive strikeouts.

In the fifth, Gould added his third and fourth RBI on another run-scoring single to left field with two outs. Maryville starting pitcher
Braden Smith wrapped up five scoreless innings of work in the bottom half, ending his day with four hits allowed and one strikeout.

In the sixth, the Panthers plated three off the visiting bullpen, highlighted by a solo home run from Luke Burk and an RBI single from Landon Willbrand. They pulled with three runs in the seventh on an RBI single.

Schuler restored a four-run lead in the eighth with a single that plated Zebig before
Ryan Hoshaw worked a scoreless eighth inning to put Drury on the brink. In the ninth,
Philip Reinhardt was called upon to pitch with a runner at first and one out. He recorded a quick 6-4-3 double play to end the game with an 8-4 final.
