The Maryville University women's golf team had its run in the 2024 Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship come to an end in the Sunday semifinals of the Medal/Match play by a 4.5 to 0.5 score to No. 1 Indianapolis. The tournament was hosted at Oakwood Country Club in Coal Valley, Ill.

The Saints earned a berth into the semifinals after three sparkling rounds of stroke play. Maryville posted rounds of 325-324-324=973 to grab the fourth spot in the semis.
Maddie Vanderheyden led the Saints with a total of 239 (80-79-80) and finished in seventh place overall.
Effie Perakis shot 244, while
Fernanda Diaz-Pizarro was one more stroke back at 245.
Chloe Davidson finished at 247, while
Jenna Clark was at 260.

In the medal/match play semifinals, the Saints ran into one of the top teams in the country. Clark faced UIndy's Anci Dy, who picked up one stoke on the opening hole. The margin was still just one after three holes but Clark dropped a shot on the next string of holes to fall down by six shots at the turn. Perakis was tied after two holes but lost two shots on the third hole of the round. She was still down four shots but lost two more at the turn and never got closer than five shots.

Davidson lost one stroke on the opening hole (No. 3) but she pulled back even on the next hole. She was down two but earned a shot back on No. 8. Davidson trailed by three shots but got one stroke back on 15 and two more on 16 to force a tie. They were still deadlocked at 17 but Caroline Whallon picked up shots on 18 and No. 1. Davidson was down two but could not make up the deficit on the final hole.

Diaz-Pizarro went ahead on hole No. 5 but the match was tied after six holes. She and Macey Brown traded the lead before Brown went ahead by one shot on No. 14. Brown led by four until Diaz-Pizarro earned one shot back on No. 17. However, Brown picked up two shots on No. 18 and another on No. 1 and stayed ahead. Diaz-Pizarro finished with a 77 on the round.

Vanderheyden was tied after hole No. 8 but picked up one stroke on nine, 10 and 11. However, Jess Haines drew to within one shot after No. 13. Vanderheyden earned that stroke back on the next hole but Haines tied it on No. 18. Vanderheyden was down by two shots but drew even on hole three, and the duo shot the same score on the final hole of the match for a draw. Vanderheyden posted a 77 to tie for the team's lowest round of the day.
