INDIANAPOLIS – Maryville University softball will open the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship Tournament against the University of Indianapolis on Thursday, May 2, at 12:30 p.m., in East Peoria, Ill.
 
The Saints earned the eighth seed after going 13-13 in conference play this season and are making their fifth appearance in the GLVC Tournament in program history. They needed to win both games of a doubleheader on Sunday at home against Upper Iowa University to get into the tournament and turned in a 15-11 win in game one and an 8-2 win in game two.
 
They go up against the 50-3 overall Greyhounds that took the GLVC regular season title with a 25-1 record in league play. Maryville was swept in a doubleheader at UIndy on April 14, forcing extra innings in a 2-1 game one loss before falling 8-5 in game two.
 
Each day of the four-day event, ticket prices will be $15 for adults, $5 for youth (ages 6-12th grade) and students (with ID), and children 5 and under are free. Tickets should be purchased before arrival at GLVCsports.com/tickets.
