ST. LOUIS – With the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament looming for the Maryville women's soccer team, the NCAA released the first numerical Midwest Regional Rankings, slotting the Saints (11-1-5) in at No. 4. The top eight teams in the region will advance to the NCAA Division II National Tournament beginning Friday, Nov. 21.
Automatic bids are granted to the winners of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) and Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) postseason tournament winners with the five remaining spots awarded on an at-large basis.
Lori Lawson's squad finished the regular season 11-1-5, with a 9-1-4 mark in GLVC play. Notably, of the Midwest top 10, five of the teams come from the GLVC.
Grand Valley State is the top seed in the region, sitting at 14-2-0 with a 14-2-2 in-region record. The NCAA DII Championship field will be announced on NCAA.com Monday, Nov. 17.
