KIRKSVILLE, MO. – Despite hitting a season-high 14 3-pointers, the Maryville women's basketball team dropped an 86-79 decision at Truman State.
Gracie Stugart paced the attack with 17 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.
Claire Rake connected on five 3-pointers and finished with 15 points, while
Alicia Burgos sank 6-of-8 shots and tallied a season-high 14 points. While the Saints nailed 14 treys, Truman State converted 15 on its end.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Down eight at halftime, Rake rained down a 3-pointer to start the third quarter.
Faith Hawthorne and Stugart scored on back-to-back layups as the Saints trimmed the gap to 47-43. Hawthorne and Rake drilled consecutive triples to draw the Saints to within 50-49. Truman stayed in front before Burgos scored in the lane, and Stugart sank a 3-pointer to inch Maryville back to 59-58 heading into the fourth.

Adylan Ayer knocked down a 3-pointer as the Saints finally drew even at 61-61 at the 8:22 mark. However, Truman went on a 10-3 run to retake the lead. TSU scored five straight until Stugart splashed in her fourth trey of the game but another 5-0 run put the hosts up 71-64. Burgos sank two free throws and knocked down a jumper as the Saints pulled back to 73-70 with just under four minutes to play. However, the Bulldogs hit seven of their next eight free throw attempts and pushed the lead to 80-72. Rake drained her fifth trey of the game to chop the deficit to 83-79 but the Saints were unable to get within one possession.
