Schadewalt Records Season-High 32 Points as Saints Snap Quincy's 15-Game Win Streak 94-86

QUINCY, ILL. – Lindsey Schadewalt poured in a season-high 32 points as the Maryville women's basketball team snapped Quincy's 15-game winning streak 94-86. Her total is the second-highest scored by a Maryville freshman, topped only by Shelby Miller's 34-point performance March 1, 2011, against Northern Kentucky. Paced by Schadewalt, the Saints had four players score in double figures.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints rained down eight 3-pointers in the first half to surge to a 50-40 lead by intermission. Up 5-4, Claire Rake and Annika Pluemer drained consecutive 3-pointers. Schadewalt took over by scoring eight straight points. She hit back-to-back triples followed by a jumper for a 19-12 lead. The Saints settled for a 21-20 edge after one quarter. The Hawks jumped ahead 26-21 before the Saints stormed back with nine straight points. Gracie Stugart and Alicia Burgos started the run with jumpers, and Annika Pluemer hit two free throws. Adylan Ayer's layup and free throw made it 29-26. The Saints stayed in front and it was 45-40 before they scored the final five points of the half for a 50-40 margin at the break. Schadewalt finished the first half with 19 points.

Quincy closed the gap to 53-46 before Pluemer sank two free throws, and a Rake trey put the Saints up by a dozen. Later, Rake hit one at the line for the largest lead of the day at 64-50. The Hawks made a push late in the third but Maryville took a 69-62 lead into the final 10 minutes.

Schadewalt sank two 3-pointers to keep the Saints ahead at 75-67 early in the fourth. QU closed to within three but Alicia Burgos came up with a steal, and Stugart scored on a layup. Schadewalt was fouled on a triple and sank all three at the free-throw line for an 84-76 lead with just under four minutes to play. She tacked on a pull-up jumper to push the margin to 86-78 with 2:25 remaining. The Hawks chopped the deficit to four before Stugart hit two free throws for an 88-82 lead with 26.2 seconds to go. QU scored again and Schadewalt made one free throw. The Hawks hit a layup before Stugart hit the second for a 90-86 lead with 12.4 seconds to play.
