SAPPINGTON, MO. - The Maryville men's team opened its match Southwest Baptist by taking the doubles point before the Bearcats rallied to grab a narrow 4-3 decision at Vetta Sunset Courts Saturday afternoon.
Jack Quilty and
Juan Suero battled in a tiebreak to prevail 7-6 in the second doubles position.
Michel Delaloye and
Diego Alvarez were extended at No. 3 doubles but took a 7-5 decision. Maryville led 1-0 heading into singles play.
Suero had to go three sets but won his No. 4 singles match by a 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 scoreline to pick up another point for Maryville.
Markos Prentits also took his match at No. 6 via a 6-3, 6-4 decision. However, the Bearcats rallied to win the other four singles slots to come back and claim the victory.
