In its first match of the 2025 spring season, the Maryville women's tennis team shut out William Jewell 7-0.
The Saints swept the doubles matches to claim the first point.
Carolina Velazquez and
Luana Luersen prevailed via a 6-2 decision at No. 1.
Isabella Alvarez and
Nazli Saka won by the same scoreline at No. 2 doubles.
Grace Brown and
Victoria Lisson won by walkover at No. 3.
In singles play, at No. 1 Lisson took a 7-6, 6-3 decision, Saka won at No. 2 6-2, 6-2, and Luersen prevailed at No. 3 at 6-1, 6-1. Alvarez cruised at No. 4 and only lost one set in a 6-0, 6-1 margin. Velazquez and Brown won via forfeit.
The Saints next play Saturday, Feb. 8, when they play at Quincy.
