MONTEVALLO, ALA. –
Ben Mickett scored at the 2:34 mark of overtime off a feed from
Connor Kvaal to send the No. 12 Maryville men's lacrosse team to a thrilling 12-11 triumph at No. 18 Montevallo. Three different Saints recorded a hat trick, and
Justin Simonson paced Maryville with three goals and two assists. The overtime victory is the second on the season for the Saints, who also defeated Rockhurst in an extra session.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In overtime, Montevallo won the draw but the Saints forced a turnover. Maryville had a shot saved and another went wide but retained the ball. Kvaal worked the ball up the left side and fed Mickett who fired in the game-winning goal.

After Montevallo scored the opener, the Saints answered with three straight.
Justin Simonson evened up the score, and just 33 seconds later,
Clayton Cerett gave Maryville a 2-1 lead after one. He opened the second quarter with another score for a 3-1 edge. The teams traded goals with
Trent Zimay and Cerett completing his hat trick. The Saints took a 5-4 lead into halftime.

Simonson struck for a 6-4 lead early in the third but the Falcons tied the score at 6-6.
Colin Tobias found the net on back-to-back possessions for an 8-6 advantage. The Falcons tied the score at 8-8 early in the fourth.
Joel Lucas put the Saints on top, and Tobias pushed the margin to 10-8. Montevallo answered with three straight to retake an 11-10 lead. Simonson tied the game 11-11 with 6:35 left. The Saints had two shots to go ahead but were saved as the game moved to OT.
Carter Bies tied the school record for caused turnovers in a game with six as the Saints had a season-high 21 CTs.
