HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hawks jumped out to an early 3-0 lead before the Saints answered with three straight. Simonson got the Saints on the scoreboard, and Mickett followed.
Carter Bies tied the game at 3-3. Rockhurst went back on top 4-3 but Maryville responded with another 3-0 burst.
Luke Chorlton took a Simonson feed and fired in the tying goal.
Colin Tobias put the Saints up, and
Connor Kvaal made it 6-4. The Hawks earned a 6-6 tie until
Clayton Cerett tallied a man-up goal. Rockhurst tied the score at 7-all in the final minute before halftime.
Â
Chris Anderson put the Saints on top for good off a Grebe assist, and Mickett was also the benefactor of a Grebe pass for another score. Tobias' second pushed the Saints ahead 10-7. Rockhurst pulled one goal back to make it 10-8 with 6:33 left in the third. However, the Maryville defense clamped down and did not allow another score to the visitors.
Â
Cerett tacked on his second, and Anderson followed with his second on the day. Grebe fired in a rocket to the upper corner as the Saints pushed their advantage to 13-8 heading into the final stanza. Mickett tallied in the opening minute of the fourth, and he followed up with another. The Saints salted the game away with two more scores for their sixth straight victory.
