ST. LOUIS - The Maryville women's tennis team closed out Great Lakes Valley Conference play with a narrow 4-3 loss to city-rival Missouri-St. Louis Saturday at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in Forest Park.
 
Victoria Lisson and Carolina Velazquez rolled to a 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles but the Tritons took the remaining two doubles matches and the team point.
 
Isabella Alvarez worked for a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 at No. 3 singles to earn Maryville's first point. Carolina Velazquez won at No. 5 6-7, 6-4, 10-7, while Luana Luersen also rallied for a 2-6, 6-4. 10-4 win. However, UMSL grabbed three other wins in singles play to close out the victory.
