Men's Volleyball Honored with AVCA Team Academic Award for Fourth Straight Season

LEXINGTON, KY. - The Maryville University men's volleyball program was recognized with the 2025 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, sponsored by INTENT. The Saints are one of only 14 teams to have garnered the honor in NCAA Division I. This is the fourth straight academic year that Maryville has reached the standard.

The Saints posted a 19-9 record and reached the finals of the IVA Tournament. Maryville fashioned 10-match winning streak and recorded a win over No. 12 Missouri Baptist. More than 1,400 collegiate and high school volleyball programs maintained a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale), to earn the award for their classroom excellence during the recently completed academic year.

INTENT, which is in its first year of sponsoring the prestigious award, is a game-changing, digital platform links student-athletes (along with military special ops veterans) to a powerful network of candidate-seeking employers. The tech, information and internet company guides student-athletes and service members toward professional and personal success in life after sports and service.
