Matt Bearley scored early in the second half to boost the Maryville men’s soccer team to a 2-1 victory at Indianapolis Sunday afternoon in the Hoosier State. The game winner was his fourth score of the season.
 
The Saints started strong and earned two straight corner kicks. On the second, Alex Brown rang a shot off the post, and Bearley narrowly missed on the Saints next chance. In the 20th minute, the Saints finally got on the scoresheet. Wyatt Essenpreis fed a ball in traffic to Gus Reinitz who connected for his team-leading fourth goal of the year. Indianapolis launched 10 shots towards the MU net but keeper James Hohenstein kept the Greyhounds scoreless.
 
In the fourth minute of the second half, Indianapolis evened the score on an unassisted goal. The Saints responded just under six minutes later for the game-winning goal. Reinitz began the sequence with a pass into the box, and Bearley jumped onto the ball and slid it home for the eventual game winner. Indy looked for the equalizer but Hohenstein made two late saves to preserve the victory.
 
The Saints improve to 3-12 overall, 3-9 in the league. The Greyhounds dip to 6-7-2 overall, 5-5-2 in the GLVC.
