MU-MBU scoresheet in PDF
In its first home match of the season, the Maryville women’s tennis team just fell short to Missouri Baptist by a 5-4 count on a windy Tuesday afternoon.
Chelsea Travis and Nicole Kaltwasser got the Saints off to a quick start with an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles. However, that would be the only doubles point Maryville would win. Travis tacked on another point at No. 1 singles with a dominating 6-1, 6-1 victory. Kaltwasser also recorded a straight set victory by scores of 6-4, 6-3 to take a decision at No. 4. Maria Lesko won her first set in a tiebreaker and claimed the second set 6-1. The Saints were unable to add one more point to secure the victory as Missouri Baptist escaped.
