Saints Women's Tennis Comes up Short at Webster

The Maryville women’s tennis team dropped crucial double points and fell at Webster 8-1. The Saints, who were coming off a win over Fontbonne, came up short in their bid to build a two-game winning streak.
 
Chelsea Travis and Valerie Saxton were edged 8-4 in the first doubles match. Lauren Land and Natalie Pfremmer trailed by one but were shaded in the final game to stumble 8-6. Maria Lesko and Anna Hindelang also battled right to the end and lost the No. 3 doubles point 8-6.
 
Travis bounced back to overwhelm her opponent at No. 1 singles, posting a 6-0, 6-1 victory.  Nicole Kaltwasser played a close contest at No. 4 but was unable to complete the comeback. Maria Lesko took the first set 6-2 before her foe took the second set and the tiebreak 10-8 for the final point of the match.
