Playing its second consecutive road contest, the Maryville women’s tennis team took on William Jewell, but the Cardinals closed out a sweep on the day.
 
Chelsea Travis and Valeris Saxton battled against their foes at No. 1 doubles but were on the short end of an 8-3 decision. Nicole Kaltwasswer played in the day’s best match dropping the first set at No. 4 singles in a tiebreak and just getting edged 6-4 in the second. Travis demonstrated strong play at No. 1 as she took at least two games in each set.
 
Maryville returns to action Wednesday when it faces Fontbonne in a match played at Dwight Davis Tennis Center in Forest Park.
