Swimming and Diving Participates in Truman State Triangular Meet

Participating in its first triangular meet, the Maryville swimming and diving team traveled to Kirksville, Mo., to face Truman State and William Jewell. The Saints set 11 new school records in the contest.

The Saints posted a 2:11.24 in the opening 200-yard medley relay to start the meet. Kelly Nuetzel swam a 2:20.56 in the 200-free. Jessica Miller clocked a 1:22.99 in the 100-yard backstroke. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Chelsey Gerber came home in 1:33.12, while Sam Gach posted a time of 28:33 in the 50-free sprint and recorded a 1:02.43 in the 100-free.

Jill Johnston finished the 200-yard backstroke at 2:47.11, and Olivia Shannon covered the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:46.23. Miller came back in the 100-fly to post a 1:13.50, while Shannon had a 2:29.77 for the 200-IM. In the final event, the Saints 400-yard free relay squad of Shannon, Nuetzel, Miller and Gach finished with a time of 4:16.23.

The Saints are next in action Nov. 2, when they take on Lindenwood and Missouri S&T in a meet at the Rec-Plex in St. Peters, Mo.
