Saints Close Inaugural Season of Swimming and Diving in Seventh at GLVC Meet

- At the inaugural Great Lakes Valley Conference swimming and diving championships, Maryville amassed 94 team points and finished in seventh place to close out its first season of competition. The championship was held over four days in Crawfordsville, Ind.

In the 200 medley relay, the Saints team of Jessica Miller, Olivia Shannon, Kelly Nuetzel and Jill Johnston finished sixth in a school record time of 2:06.00. The next relay was the 200 free squad of Lucy Helzerman, Johnston, Miller and Shannon, and Maryville dropped its best time of the season by nearly four seconds to clock a 1:50.54. Shannon and Nuetzel were in the B-Final of the 400 IM and were ninth and 10th for Maryville. Shannon clocked a 1:14.95 in the 100 breaststroke, good for 16th.

The Saints set a new school record in the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:32.96 as Miller led off with Nuetzel, Shannon and Johnston bringing home the seventh-place finish. Three Saints all placed in the top 20 in the 200 backstroke, and Shannon was sixth in the 200 breaststroke B-Final in 2:38.58. In the final event of the season, the Saints posted their unofficial best time of the season in the 400 freestyle relay.
