St. Louis - The Maryville women's tennis team battled back from an early deficit but was unable to complete the comeback as Emporia State ended the Saints' two-match win streak with a 6-3 decision Saturday afternoon at the Maryville Tennis Courts.

The visiting Hornets narrowly won all three doubles contests to take the early 3-0 lead.
Philine Schlorf lost her first set but rallied for a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles. ESU took the second singles point but
Renske Linders posted a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles, and
Nicole Kitsuse came back to take a 6-7 (6-8), 6-3, 7-5 decision at the fourth singles slot. However, Emporia State won the final two singles points to win the match.
