Box Score St. Louis - The Maryville volleyball team had three hitters reach double digit kills as it edged Webster in three straight sets (25-23, 29-27, 26-24) Wednesday night in Moloney Arena. Freshmen
Maddie Timmermann and
Ashley Selman both notched 12 kills, and
Laura Welling recorded 11 as the Saints won their second straight match.

The Gorloks jumped out to a 4-1 lead before the Saints tied it at 6-6 on a Welling kill. Webster took another three-point lead until the Saints forged another deadlock at 16-16. The set was tied at 22-22 before Maryville scored two straight points. Timmermann had a kill, and a block by Selman and
Jordan McKinley pushed the Saints to set point. Webster saved one but Selman pounded down a kill for a 25-23 win.

The Saints sailed to a 4-0 margin before Webster cut the gap to 9-8. The Saints then reeled off seven straight points to seemingly take control. Welling started the run, and after two straight WU hitting errors,
Abby Luebbers served an ace for a 13-8 lead. Consecutive errors by the Gorloks and another ace by Luebbers built a 16-8 lead. Webster slowly rallied and got as close as 23-21. A Timmermann kill gave the Saints set point before Webster tied the match at 24-all. The teams traded points until the Gorloks scored two straight to earn their first set point at 27-26. Grace Balcerak tied the set, and a ball handling error gave Maryville a set point. Welling finished off the set with a kill for a 2-0 Saints lead.

Set three featured 14 ties and seven lead changes. Selman had a kill to push the Saints up 18-15 but Webster took a 22-21 lead. Timmermann tied the set, and a kill by
Hana Michael put the Saints ahead. Welling finished a pass from
Taryn Trubich to give Maryville two set points at 24-22. The Gorloks saved both to earn a 24-24 tie before the Saints closed out the match. Timmermann finished a play, and Selman drilled the match-ending kill.

In addition to her 12 kills, Selman added five blocks. Timmermann finished with a .320 hitting percentage.
Ali Lampen recorded a season-high 28 digs to lead the Saints. Maryville improves to 5-3 overall, while Webster drops to 4-5.
