Box Score 2 St. Louis - Minnesota-Crookston rallied against Maryville and claimed the title of the 2014 Drury Plaza / Maryville Invitational Tournament by finishing with a perfect 4-0 record in the tournament. The Saints won the first two sets against the Golden Eagles but UMC rallied for a thrilling 17-25, 17-25, 25-17, 25-11, 16-14 win. The Saints defeated Kentucky Wesleyan 25-23, 25-17, 23-25, 31-29 to start day two.

Against Kentucky Wesleyan, Hana Michael led the Saints with 15 kills and completed a double-double with 11 digs. Ali Lampen led the way defensively with a match-high 19 digs as six Saints posted double-digit dig totals. Laura Welling and Ashley Selman both added nine kills apiece. Selman and Grace Balcerak were a formidable blocking tandem as the duo both recorded six block assists apiece. Taryn Trubich handed out 24 assists to direct the offense. Summer Alford led the Panthers with 18 kills and hit .378 in the match.

The Saints controlled the first two sets while holding UMC to .000 and .129 hitting percentages to jump out to a 2-0 lead. The Golden Eagles turned their hitting around and their defense held the Saints to a negative hitting mark in sets three and four. In the final set, the Saints led 14-11 but the Golden Eagles scored the final five points to rally for the victory.

Selmon led the Saints with 13 kills and six blocks, while Maddie Timmermann added 11 kills. Lampen notched 26 digs. For UMC, Tournament MVP Brittany Looker pounded down 29 kills and completed a double-double with 14 digs. UMC improved to 4-0 on the season, while the Saints suffered their first defeat of the year and are 3-1.

In other matches, Minnesota-Crookston defeated West Liberty 3-1, and Saint Joseph's downed WLU 3-0 in the third match of the day. Kentucky Weslyan bounced back to edge SJC 3-1.
