The Maryville women's tennis team won all nine matches to sweep its contest against Webster University Sunday. The victory ups the Saints record to 2-3 on the season.
Puck Vlaskamp and Anne Lutz eased to an 8-1 at the top doubles position, and Kine Kleppe and Rebekah Anderson posted the 8-3 victory at the No. 2 doubles slot. Katerina Tietmann and Andrea Fandino closed out the doubles sweep by an 8-1 count at the third doubles competition.
At No. 1 singles, Vlaskamp won set one 6-2, dropped set two to move to a tiebreak. She dropped the first six points then came all the way back and won a thrilling tiebreak by a 16-14 score. Fandino was similarly extended in her singles match at No. 2 but took the tiebreaker by a 10-8 count. At the third singles match, Anderson dropped just one game, while Tietmann took all 12 games. Kleppe cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win, and Makenna Parker also eased to a 6-1, 6-2 triumph.
The Saints are next in action in Arkansas as they play three matches in two days March 6-7.
