Powered by back-to-back homers in game one, Maryville took the series opener against Rockhurst 11-6. The Hawks limited the Saints to four hits and won game two 7-1.

After the Hawks scored a run in the top of the first, the Saints answered with two scores in the bottom of the first.
Mike Wilkinson's sac fly tied the game, and
Tyler Catlett's RBI ground out pushed the Saints ahead 2-1. Wilkinson drove in another run in the third on a fielder's choice for a 3-1 edge.
Yoonjae Nam launched a solo shot to deep left center for a 4-1 cushion. Two pitches later,
Mitch Carriger cranked a homer to right for a 5-1 lead.

The Saints blew the game open in the fourth as they used five hits and took advantage of a Rockhurst error to score five times. With two runners on, Nam hit a sharp RBI single to left. The ball bounced away and allowed three runs to score as Nam sprinted home.
Nate Steffler tacked on a two-run single for a 10-1 advantage. The Hawks scored three times in the top of the fifth to cut the Maryville lead to 10-4. Steffler drove in his third run for the Saints, and Rockhurst scored two runs in the top of the ninth to close out the scoring. Carriger had three hits and scored three times to pace the Saints attack.
Robbie Gordon pitched 3-2/3 innings of relief and allowed just one hit and struck out six to pick up the win.

In game two, the Saints offense was held in check by Rockhurst's Joe Huber who went the distance and gave up just four hits and one unearned run. The Hawks took the lead with a run in the top of the second and scored all the runs they would need with three in the third. Rockhurst tallied in four straight innings before the Saints got on the board in the fifth. With runners on second and third,
Brad Ridings had a sac fly to right to score
Daniel Barnett for Maryville's lone run of the game.

The Saints stand at 12-21 overall, 5-15 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Hawks are 16-18 overall, 8-12 in the league. The teams finish the series Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at Noon.
