The Maryville women's tennis team clinched the third seed in the Great Lakes Valley Conference West Division with a dramatic comeback for a 5-4 victory over Quincy. The Saints have clinched their best seed in the GLVC Tournament.
 
The Saints were down 2-1 after doubles action. Andrea Fandino and Rebekah Anderson salvaged a crucial point in the No. 3 slot as they recorded an 8-3 victory. The Hawks took two of the next three singles points with Puck Vlaskamp notching a 6-4, 6-2 win to pull the Saints to 4-2.  With just three spots remaining to play, if the Saints were to win the contest, they would need to claim all three of the matches.  Anne Lutz took the point at No. 4 with a straight set 6-2, 6-3 win, and Katharina Tietmann bounced her foe at No. 5 by a 6-1, 6-4 score line.  With the match tied at 4-4, Manon Halna Du Fretay came through again for the second time this season to win the decisive point in a match. She took set one 6-1 and finished the rally with a 6-4 victory in the final set.
 
The GLVC Tournament will be hosted at the Plaza Tennis Center in Kansas City, Mo., April 17-19.
