Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Nashville, Tenn. - The Maryville baseball team grabbed an early lead and held off a late Saint Joseph's charge to post a 6-5 victory in a non-conference game Friday afternoon played in Nashville, Tenn. Steven Reynolds picked up the win after allowing up four hits and one run over six innings of work, while Yoonjae Nam drove in four runs against SJC. In the second game of the day, the Saints dropped a 6-2 decision to host Trevecca Nazarene.
 
The Saints scored an unearned run in the top of the first to grab the early lead. In the third, Maryville used extra bases to build a 2-0 lead. Tyler Omlid doubled to right, and Nam drilled a triple to center to bring home the game's second run. Nam struck again for the Saints in the sixth. After singles by Tyler Catlett and Omlid, Nam cleared the bases with a three-run blast to left field for a 5-0 run. The Pumas pulled one run back but Catlett answered with an RBI double to plate Evan Reister, who doubled to lead off the seventh. SJC rallied with three runs in the bottom of the eighth, and added another run in the ninth. The Pumas had runners at the corners before Brandon Downey induced a foul out to end the game and preserve the 6-5 win.

Against TNU, Omlid doubled to leadoff the game and took second on a Dalton Schumer sac bunt. Mitch Carriger came through with an RBI single for a 1-0 lead. The Trojans posted single runs in the second and third before pushing two across in the fourth. One run in the fifth and sixth frames built up a 6-1 advantage. The Saints bats struggled and did not record a hit for five innings before Schumer singled. Nam smacked his second home run of the day with a solo shot to left in the ninth to trim the deficit to 6-2. Sean Murphy was hit by a pitch but the Saints were unable to score any more runs and were held to five hits by TNU.

Saturday, the Saints again will play Saint Joseph's at Noon, and Trevecca Nazarene at 3 pm to close out their trip.
