St. Louis - For the first time in program history, the Maryville women's tennis team posted a victory over an NCAA Division I team as the Saints defeated Southeast Missouri State 7-2 Tuesday at the Maryville Tennis Courts.

Cara Rickert and Lucy Horbatowski put the Saints on the winning path with an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles. Sarah Etter and Andrea Fandino followed up with an 8-4 win at the second doubles position. The Saints capped a sweep of the doubles matches when Puck Vlaskamp and Rebekah Anderson posted a hard-fought 9-7 win at the No. 1 doubles contest.

SEMO won at No. 2 singles but Horbatowski put up the first Maryville singles point when she won her No. 4 match 6-4, 7-6 (8-4). The Redhawks won at No. 3 singles but Etter rallied for a 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles to answer and clinch the victory. Anderson and Kine Kleppe both won their singles matchups to close out the win for Maryville. The Saints are 3-3 on the season.
