St. Louis - With a 9-0 sweep over visiting William Jewell, the Maryville University women's tennis team clinched a berth in the 2016 Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament that begins April 29, hosted by Lewis University.
 
The Saints claimed victories in all three doubles matches, capped by a tight win at No. 1 doubles by Puck Vlaskamp and Rebekah Anderson. The duo prevailed in a 7-4 tiebreak. The combo of Andrea Fandino and Lucy Horbatowski won at No. 2 doubles 8-4 for the first point of the match. Sarah Etter and Cara Rickert tallied an 8-5 win at number three doubles.
 
In singles action, the Saints did not drop a set to close out the match. Etter and Fandino only lost three games combined in the top two singles slots. Vlaskamp eased to a 6-1, 6-2 victory, while Horbatowski recorded a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively. Anderson triumphed by a 6-3, 6-1 score at number five, while Kine Kleppe won by the same scoreline at No. 6.
 
The Saints close out the regular season Saturday when they host Rockhurst for a 10 a.m. match at the Maryville Tennis Courts.
