On the opening day of the National Wrestling Coaches Association National Duals, Maryville posted a 1-2 mark. The third-ranked Saints defeated No. 17 Newberry 24-17 but were edged 18-17 by Wheeling Jesuit. The Saints were eliminated after dropping a 21-12 decision to Upper Iowa.
 
The Saints lost their first two matches against Newberry before Nate Rodriguez scored the first Maryville points with an 8-0 major at 141. James Krischke picked up a dramatic win with a 6-2 sudden victory win in the 149-pound division. At 165, Matt Pratt posted a 6-1 win to set up a late rush by the Saints. Zeb Wahle recorded a 3-1 decision at 184, and Ethan Sherertz recorded a 17-0 tech fall. Donnell Walker advanced on a forfeit to end the first match.
 
Against Wheeling, Dakota Bauer picked up a 10-4 victory at 133, and Rodriguez followed with a 9-0 major decision to give the Saints the early edge. However, Wheeling Jesuit won the next four matches, including two in overtime, to extend its lead. The Saints answered when Wahle won at 184 by a 9-4 count, and Sherertz picked up a 6-4 sudden victory win at 197. Walker cruised to an 11-2 major but the Saints fell one point short and moved into the consolation draw.
 
The Saints shuffled their lineup against Upper Iowa but dropped five of the first six matches. Rodriguez posted a 5-0 shutout win before the Saints attempted a late comeback. Travis Lang won a 6-0 decision at 174, and Wahle took an 11-5 win at 184. Sherertz recorded a 5-0 whitewashing but Maryville was unable to complete the comeback.
