Arkadelphia, Ark. - In the final day of competition at a tournament in Arkadelphia, Ark., the Maryville women's tennis team earned a split. The Saints were edged 5-4 by Mississippi College before downing Henderson State 7-2.

The Saints fell behind by dropping two doubles matches before trying to rally.
Sandra Hinterberger and
Sarah Etter won an 8-6 decision at No. 3 doubles. Hinterberger recorded a 6-2, 6-2 win to get the Saints started in singles but Mississippi College took the top two singles points to clinch the win.
Kine Kleppe won her No. 4 singles point 10-8, and
Rebekah Anderson did the same at No. 5 but those would be Maryville's final points.

Against Henderson State,
Lina Kunert and
Andrea Fandino emerged with an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles, and Etter and
Lucy Horbatowski edged out a 9-7 victory in the third doubles match. Kleppe won her No. 4 singles match by identical 6-3, 6-3 scores, and Anderson notched a 6-3, 7-5 triumph.
Ashley Dowden took her No. 6 slot contest 6-2, 6-3. Etter took her match at No. 1 10-3 in the finals.

The Saints take a break from competition and are next on the courts against two NCAA Division I teams in Evansville and Southeast Missouri State March 12.
