Chicago -Â The Maryville women's tennis team rolled to a 7-2 victory over Ferris State on the middle day of the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover Tournament Saturday in Chicago.
The Saints broke out on top by sweeping all three doubles matches. Puck Vlaskamp and Rebekah Anderson cruised to an 8-1 win at the No. 1 position. Lina Kunert and Sandra Hinterberger swept their No. 2 doubles match 8-0. Lucy Horbatowski and Sarah Etter battled at No. 3 and emerged with an 8-6 win.
The Saints closed out the victory in singles action as Etter posted a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles. Kunert then proved the winning points as she notched the 6-3, 6-4 triumph at No. 6 to clinch the match victory. Ferris State won two matches, but Horbatowski took her match 6-1, 0-6, 10-7 for the final margin.
Maryville closes out the tourney with a match Sunday, March 19, against Northwood.
